Rob's latest project, Killing Bono is currently being filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland and NI Screen has released an official announcement about the film's production along with the first image still!
"Ben Barnes (Dorian Gray, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Easy Virtue) and Robert Sheehan (Season of the Witch, Cherrybomb, The Misfits) are hapless brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick who set up a band in Dublin in the late 70’s. Sadly for them, so did their classmates and rivals, who go on to become U2. Eternal optimism continually wins out over cold harsh reality in a celebration of the glory of failure. "
Rob Nominated for 2010 Irish Film Board Rising Star Award
Robert Sheehan has been nominated by the Irish Film Board and IFTA in their 2010 Rising Star category! He released a lengthy statement (pre-win speech, let's call it!) which can be seen below:
"I'm absolutely delighted and very proud to be nominated in the Rising Star category of the IFTAs. I've been a fervid follower of the awards over the last few years so it's really an honour to be involved now. I must give my sincere thanks to The Lisa Richards Agency, particularly Jonathan Shankey and Rose Parkinson. Also my family who are nothing but supportive and encouraging, particularly my mother who may well be joining me at the ceremony! I look forward to the evening."
The winner of the Rising Star award will be announced at the IFTA ceremony next month!
A 3+ minute clip of Rob from the 2006 horror film Ghostwood is now online! It's believed he's meant to have an American accent in this film - what's your take on it?
All six first episodes of Misfits will be released on DVD this coming Monday, 28th December! Belated Christmas gift, perhaps?
It's available for pre-order at Play.com. Special features will include: # Behind the scenes interviews with cast and crew # Simon's films # The making of Misfits
Sadly, due to filming commitments for Killing Bono, Robert Sheehan will be unable to attend the Shooting Stars event at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
Sheehan was one of 10 young European actors picked for the 2010 Shooting Stars -- a networking event in which young talent gets to meet international producers, scouts and casting agents for one-on-one face time. But "Killing Bono" will be shooting throughout January and February, making it impossible for Sheehan to travel to Berlin.
"I am, of course, hugely disappointed that I will not be able to attend this event," Sheehan said in a letter to Shooting Stars organizers. "I was deeply honored to be selected for this prestigious award and I send my very best wishes to all the other Shooting Stars and the festival."
Sheehan will be replaced by French actress Anais Demoustier, whose credits include Anna Novion's "Grown Ups" (2007) and "Time of the Wolf" (2003) from director Michael Haneke.
Just before the finale, The Guardian has announced that Misfits will be back for a second run next year!
E4's youth superhero drama, Misfits, has been recommissioned for a second series as the first run draws to a close.
Six new episodes of the drama, which follows five teenagers doing community service who develop superhuman powers after being caught in a storm, will be aired next year. The final episode of the current series airs tonight.
This follows a generally positive critical response for the show, written by Howard Overman and made by the independent producer Clerkenwell Films, which has been seen as a successor to E4's successful teen drama Skins.
